Storyboard from Baltimore at Fondazione Prada
Milan, Italy – Fondazione Prada's Osservatorio is currently hosting "A Kind of Language: Storyboards and Other Renderings for Cinema," an exhibition that delves into the creative processes behind filmmaking. Curated by Melissa Harris, the exhibition showcases storyboards from Isaac Julien's 2004 film, Baltimore, as well as over 800 items created from the late 1920s to 2024 by more than 50 authors, including film directors, cinematographers, visual artists, and graphic designers.
The exhibition highlights the role of storyboards and other materials like mood boards, drawings, sketches, and notebooks in filmmaking. The set design, inspired by storyboards, transforms the Osservatorio into a spatial experience reminiscent of a storyboard artist's working environment.
A film program connected to the project will be presented at Cinema Godard at Fondazione Prada from February to September 2025.
