Isaac Julien, Bénédicte Savoy and Dan Hicks in conversation at K21

December 6, 2023

On December 7h at 19.00 at K20 Isaac Julien will be in conversation with the professor Bénédicte Savoy from the Technische Universität in Berlin, and the curator Dan Hicks, Professor of Contemporary Archeology at the University of Oxford.

The conversation will have a special focus on Julien's latest film installation Once Again ...(Statues never Die), 2022, which unfolds as “a mythical diasporic dreamspace” against the historical backdrop of the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s.

The work is currently on view as part of Julien's survey exhibition “What Freedom Is To Me", which can still be seen in the K21 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen until January 14, 2024.
