Screening of Looking for Langston exclusively on MoMA's website

June 20, 2022

Newly acquired by Museum of Modern Art in New York, Isaac Julien’s Looking for Langston is part of the exclusive two-week screening on the MoMA's website where viewers can watch the artist’s lyrical evocation of Black queer history.

The film helped to establish Julien’s singular approach to expanded biography, reimagining historical Black figures and empowering them anew.

Looking for Langston’s investigation of desire made it a hallmark of what B. Ruby Rich called the New Queer Cinema, and a touchstone for African American studies.

For this occasion, Stuart Comer, The Lonti Ebers Chief Curator of Media and Performance at the Museum of Modern Art in New York had a conversation with Isaac Julien that you can read on MoMA's website
