The future of video art, according to the NYT

Shortly after the presentation of photographic artworks from Lessons of the Hour: Frederick Douglass by Jessica Silverman Gallery and in antecipation to the solo exhibition including the ten-screen film installation at the McEvoy Foundation for the Arts, the New York Times highlighted the piece among those to help build the legacy of videoart.

 

According to the piece, the global public health crisis has enabled "a sort of a renaissance" of the art form, with artists such as Julien, Hito Steyerl, Rachel Rose and Lynn Hershman Leeson reaching new audiences with artworks "designed to be viewed on a screen".
