Commemorating the World AIDS Day

Commemorated since 1988 on the 1st of December, the World AIDS Day is an occasion to raise awareness and discuss strategies to fight the HIV pandemic. This year, Los Angeles-based contemporary art collection The Broad celebrates the date with a programme of talks and screenings which includes Isaac Julien's 1987 This is Not an AIDS Advertisement.

Hosted and co-organised by West Hollywood’s poet laureate, Steven Reigns, the session is followed by a public talk with Reigns, author Meliza Bañales (aka Missy Fuego), award-winning author Bernard Cooper, and writer, musician, and choreographer Brontez Purnell, discussing how HIV and AIDS have impacted their lives.
