Isaac Julien is to present three academic lectures at universities in California in April.
Julien has been invited by the San Francisco Art Institute as a Pilara Foundation Distinguished Visiting Photography Fellow for the Spring 2009 semester.
As Pilara Fellow, the artist will present a lecture on Wednesday, 15 April at 7:30pm in the Art Institute’s Lecture Hall, 800 Chestnut Street campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.
On Friday, 17 April at 4:30pm, Isaac Julien will be in conversation with Professor Kaja Silverman at University of California, Berkeley’s PFA Theater, 2575 Bancroft Way, between College and Telegraph.
This program is being presented by the Arts Research Center at UC Berkeley in collaboration with the UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive. This is a free lecture.
On Monday, 20 April at 7:00pm, Isaac Julien will be in conversation with Professor B. Ruby Rich at the University of California, Santa Cruz, following a rare screening of his film, Frantz Fanon: Black Skin, White Mask (1996). This screening is open to all and will take place in Studio C, Communications Building, UCSC.
Presented by the Social Documentation Program of the Community Studies Department in collaboration with the Center for Cultural Studies, the Film and Digital Media Department, and the History of Art and Visual Culture Department.
